MY TRUE HEART KNOWS & IT IS NOT STRIVING
Daily Meditation, Inspirations, and Practices for the Sacred Masculine, January 19
- Today’s question: How are you walking your path: With confidence, with doubt, with confusion? There is no right answer, except to know, in your heart, how you, at this moment, are walking the path.
- Today's suggested practice: Day 9 of this month's practice with Sarah Anderson (see video, below)
- My playlist while writing today's meditation: Poulenc, Quartet for the End of Time, VIII https://music.apple.com/ca/album/quartet-for-the-end-of-time-viii-louange-%C3%A0-l%C3%A9ternit%C3%A9-de-j%C3%A9sus/1009467298?i=1009467599
- Practice: 4:30am: 60 minutes of yogic practice, including Meditation for Purifying the Elements
- My vulnerability practice: To return to practice after a few days away, and to feel my inadequacy, and my readiness …

TODAY'S MEDITATION
Striving. Pursuing. Achieving.
Carpe deum.
Just do it.
The list of instructions, for any of us who are masculine-identified, is endless. And, at this point in my life, pretty much bullsh*t.
Try this: What if your failure to achieve is the gift that this life is giving you, but you’re too focused on striving to see it?
That was true for me. Several times over.
Today, for me: to live without striving, to cut that impulse off at the knees whenever it rises to dull me to life’s gifts, this is my practice, my life. And, to receive Her & Her myriad gifts of love & beauty, this is the only way I can live, and be happy.
This is my art of living, how I walk this Path of the Sacred Masculine.
Always this question: How am I walking my path? How am I aligning with myself? How am I allowing Her to give me everything I need?
I recently asked men, How long do you wait? Because the sitting still and allowing Her to bring everything, this is not something we are taught.
I was thinking about sex. But it’s true for everything: How long do I practice this practice of sitting, opening, breathing into my open-fronted body, my soft belly, my open heart, open throat, allowing everything to come to me —how much patience do I have for this river to find me, to flow through me and fulfil me?
Our individual sexual experiences are, well, individual. Yet also, broadly and surprisingly alike.
That said, it is my experience and observation and the fruit of my studies that what I, as a masculine-identified man, experience as “sex” is profoundly different than what a feminine-identified woman experiences. That what I experience as “orgasm” might be a completely different creature than what a woman experiences. The words we use —arousal, pleasure, orgasm— sound the same. But they feel differently in our different bodies, mediated differently by our different nervous systems.
However, as masculine-identified men, we have a solution. A way to “fix” this communicative/experiential divide: we can slow down. We can listen. We can see. We can “feel into” (and that, my readers who are men, that thing called “feeling into,” that is something worth learning, for a multitude of reasons, not the least of which is an experience of this nebulous thing called “sex” that is far beyond most of our imaginings…). We can be amazed. And, amazed, we may be able to lead her into amazement, and we are both deepened.
How long can you wait? How deep is your patience? My patience? Indeed.
In my heart I know this path. It is one of commitment. And patience. And listening. And, of course, the path of “feeling into” and being amazed. And, amazed, to be the leader she yearns to guide her through the river of sensation and wonder that is her feminine experience of every moment, every breath. And, knowing this, I know a little of how much “sex” lives in the world beyond her body, beyond my body.
TODAY’S INSPIRATIONS
🌀You deserve nothing. (Kendra Cunov)
🌀…an evolved man doesn’t want anything in particular from a woman other than her authentic self. He’s self-satisfied, so she’s free to be whomever she wants to be. (Bryan Reeves, Choose Her Every Day)
🌀Dedicated to truth and integrity (Satya), our thoughts, words, and actions gain the power to manifest. (Yoga Sutra 2.36)
TODAY'S SUGGESTED PRACTICE
Day 14 of this month's practice, take about four minutes today to sit and join Sarah Anderson in a beautiful “Sacred Womb” meditation (because all of us, however we identify, can benefit from some loving attention to our “feminine” creative/generative capacities)
Please read through first, then ...
- Today, sit (or stand) in stillness as you listen to your heart, your belly, your sex, your root and let this question stir within you…. How am I walking this path? How am I preparing myself, as a masculine-identified man, to receive Her? Or, How am I preparing myself to flow, to blossom into the beauty that is mine as a feminine-identified woman? This is the question posed to the sacred womb, that divine mystery of creation that lies deep in all of our feminine, no matter how masculine we are, no matter how little we trust this feminine…
- Set your timer for 6 minutes or listen to or watch Sarah:
- As the timer signals or the video ends allow your eyes to slowly open. Take three, relaxed breath cycles, no pressing, no effort, and feel yourself full, without thoughts, open. Safe to receive. Then, step into your day, letting the mantra echo as a nourishing vibration whenever you become still. You don't need to DO anything. Let the world come to you with its demands, its complaints, and yes, its endless tide of gifts and blessings.
